President Maia Sandu had a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The discussions between the two officials centered on a number of important aspects, including the security challenges, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.
“We talked about the security threats with which we and the whole region are confronted and about the efforts made by the authorities in Chisinau to build the rule of law, to modernize the economy and to ensure the security of our citizens,” said President Sandu.
The official tanked the United States for the comprehensive assistance offered to the Republic of Moldova. “We are grateful to the people of the U.S. for their consistent contribution to developing democracy, public institutions and for the support offered to us in these difficult times to help us be more resilient in the economic and energy sectors and more efficient in the security sector,” stated Maia Sandu.
President Maia Sandu is taking part in the Munich Security Conference during February 17-19. The event brought together over 45 heads of state and government and more than 70 ministers. While in Germany, President Sandu will have meetings with heads of state and government, European high-ranking officials and heads of international organizations.
