Vice president of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), MP Mihai Popșoi said the illegal checkpoints set up in the Security Zone on the pretext of the pandemic will most probably remain there after the pandemic too. According to him, President Igor Dodon does not come with a reaction and is ready to concede even those villages of Dubăsari district so as to get personal advantages – votes in the Transnistria region, IPN reports.

In a news conference, the MP said those illegal checkpoints hamper the free movement of people who live in villages nearby. Some other unilateral concessions are made, regarding telecommunications, the banking sector, etc. The one who says that he is the big defender of sovereignty keeps silent because he is dependent on Russia and on Tiraspol too, as his votes come from there.

“Regrettably, the people in the country and the politicians remember the Transnistrian region only when things there worsen. The situation in the Security Zone has become tenser during the past few weeks and the tensions are expected to grow when the elections are closer and will be used by the current government for electoral purposes, stated Mihai Popșoi

“It is evident that the so-called statehood supporter Igor Dodon during four years did nothing to unite society around the idea of reunifying Moldova and withdrawing the illegal military presence of Russia, but he and his pocket party, the PSRM, openly promote the anti-constitutional idea of federalizing the Republic of Moldova in accordance with the Kozak-2 plan,” said MP Oazu Nantoi.

By the time the news item was published, the presidential administration hadn’t commented on the given statements.
