President considers that neutrality of Moldova is an ace in settling Transnistrian conflict

The strategic neutrality of Moldova is extremely favorable for creating a compromise system in order to reintegrate Moldova, President of the Republic of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin declared after he has visited Moscow and met with the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. According to the Press Service of the Presidency, when the president came back to Moldova he convened a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament, Marian Lupu, the Prime-minister Vasile Tarlev, the minister of foreign affairs and European integration, Andrei Stratan, the minister of defense, Valeriu Plesca, the minister of reintegration, Vasile Sova, the deputy economy minister, Igor Dodon, the minister of internal affairs, Gheorgh Papuc and the presidential counselor Marc Tkaciuck. The president talked about the results of his visit to the Russian Federation. Voronin said that he discussed with the Russian president about the Transnistrian conflict and the whole range of bilateral relations. The presidents agreed on identifying some mechanisms for overcoming the present problems between the two countries, they decided to resume the activity of the Moldovan–Russian intergovernmental commission and to intensify the commercial-economic collaboration. In the light of these agreements, Vladimir Voronin ordered to elaborate a plan for overcoming the present difficulties. The president paid a special attention to the constructive standpoint of the Russian Federation regarding the intensification of the discussions related to the Transnistrian settlement and resuming deliveries of Moldovan products on the Russian market. The meeting of the two presidents took place on August 8 and lasted for about two hours.
