The capital city is preparing for the paschal holidays. The local authorities ordered to clean up the cemeteries, to check the road infrastructure near churches and to stop up the access roads to the suburbs. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca instructed to prepare the decorative lighting for churches, IPN reports.
In the April 11 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, the mayor said the responsible subdivisions must examine the state of the sidewalks and roadway so as to avoid all kinds of incidents. Regulations on behavior in cemeteries should be made public so as to ban making fire and cooking food on the barbecue on Low Sunday.
The head of the municipal company “Funeral services complex” Ludmila Botan said a number of cleanup activities have been already performed in cemeteries. She called on the residents of Chisinau to lay out the graves and carry out construction works on funeral monuments before Easter so as to manage to collect the waste until Low Sunday.
According to the municipal authorities, additional public transport routes to cemeteries will be instituted this year too.
Easter this year falls on May 1, while Low Sunday – on May 8 and 9.
