Prime Minister Zinaida Grecianii formulated the priorities of the customs system at the end of a working visit to the Chisinau Customs Office, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the government’s pres service. According to the Premier, the employees of the Customs Service should ensure the smooth running of the customs system, contribute to fighting corruption and severely penalize any case that harms the interests of the state. During discussions with employees of the customs post, Zinaida Grecianii said that the customs revenues have grown at a higher rate than the volume of import duties during the past several years. The Prime Minister said that the country’s administration made permanent effort to reduce the administrative pressure on the business and to improve the regulatory framework. The lower costs prove that these steps had been efficient. Among the latest accomplishments of the reforms in the customs system, the Premier mentioned the introduction of the one-stop office method, which reduced the period of staying in the customs, diminished corruption risks and significantly increased budget collections, as Zinaida Grecianii said. After the given method was implemented, the ecological tax revenues rose over eightfold in 2008.
