Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said yellow license plates should be issued to legal carriers so as to distinguish between them and those that work illegally, without paying taxes to the state, IPN reports.
The proposal was made in the opening of the October 2 meeting of the Government, in the context of the campaign aimed at combating illegal transportation carried out by the Transport Ministry. The police now stop all the carriers for checks as they cannot differentiate between those that provide services legally and those that break the law.
In another development, Iurie Leanca proposed that the taxes paid by owners of motor vehicles with individualized license numbers should be increased. In other countries they are five times higher. The money can be transferred to a special fund that would be used to finance measures to raise public awareness of traffic security.
