Since the state of emergency in the energy sector will be in force in the Republic of Moldova, Premier Energy and the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) called on the consumers to rationally use electricity, especially during peak hours, IPN reports.

"We are following with concern the considerable increase in electricity consumption in the last period. The consequences of the phenomenon are known: the higher costs for purchasing electricity on the stock exchange and overloading of the electricity grids with serious consequences," reads a press release from Premier Energy.

The NAER came with a similar message, urging the citizens to be responsible and contribute to national energy security.

"Through the effort of each consumer to reduce electricity consumption, especially between 07:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and between 06:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., we will contribute to increasing the country's energy security and reduce the costs for purchasing electricity," emphasized the Agency.

The consumers are urged to adopt simple energy-saving measures, such as rationally using energy-intensive appliances during the peak hours, unplugging electrical equipment when not in use, and turning off the light when it is not needed.
