The Political Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) is ready to take part in the presidential elections of this autumn with an own candidate. If other parties, forces from civil society accept, it can discuss a common, apolitical candidate, IPN quoted the leader of the PPPDA Andrei Năstase as saying after an ordinary meeting of the party’s Political Bureau.
According to Andrei Năstase, by fielding a common, apolitical candidate, they could ensure unity in the national interests, not in the interests of a party. “We expressed our readiness to support the union and consolidation of the democratic, authentic, pro-European forces existing in the Republic of Moldova so that we achieve a good, winning result in the presidential elections. We will see the opinions of other parties, if they share the same desideratum. If not, the DA Platform will compete with an own candidate,” stated the politician.
He also said that the new parliamentary elections that will take place in Hâncești constituency on March 15 could be a rehearsal for the democratic, pro-European forces for this autumn‘s presidential elections. “We can do this if everyone shows political will. The DA Platform expressed this political will in time. We remain consistent, coherent and will not deviate,” noted Andrei Năstase.
He added that the Political Bureau decided to convene the National Political Council of the PPPDA for January 25 and to constitute the Association of local elected officials of the party in this.
