The Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) and the Our Party submitted the list with signatories of the supporters of Andrei Năstase and, respectively, Renato Usatui, to the Central Election Commission (CEC) for registering the two as candidates for office of President of the Republic of Moldova. The lists were presented four days after the CEC registered the initiative groups of the two parties, IPN reports.

According to aspirant for the post of President Andrei Năstase, during four days his initiative group collected 25,491 signatures in all the territorial-administrate units.

Andrei Năstase called on the people to be near the PPPDA and him as a candidate and to actively become involved so as to bring about the change. “Until now we mobilized the people at civil, political activities, at protests, but time has come to give a decisive blow to the current government by vote,” stated the politician.

For his part, Our Party candidate Renato Usatyi said his group collected 24,122 signatures. The signature collection process wasn’t difficult, despite the pandemic. The first signatures were collected in Chisinau.

According to the politician, it is now important to persuade the Moldovans to vote in elections. In discussions with young people, he was told that they do not want to hear about the politicians of Moldova. Renato Usatyi noted that if he is elected President, one of the first decrees he will sign will be the decree to dissolve Parliament because 80% of the MPs are not honest.

Under the Electoral Code, to be registered by the CEC, all the candidates for President must present at least 15,000 signatures and at most 25,000 signatures of voters from at least half of the second-level territorial-administrative units in support of them.

The initiative groups have time until October 1 to collect signatures in support of candidates.
