PPCD MP’s statements are groundless, says PRO TV

The assertion that PRO TV channel undermines Moldova’s national interests made by Stefan Secareanu, MP of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD), is an extremely serious, but completely unfounded accusation. The channel made its position public in a press release quoted by Info-Prim Neo. PRO TV describes the MPs’s statements as meaningless. According to the communiqué, in nine years of work, PRO TV has been one of the few balanced, equidistant and politically unbiased media institutions working in Moldova. PRO TV is always ready to provide information about its activity in Moldova to the state institutions, which should answer the tendentious questions put by the PPCD MP. “PRO TV works in compliance with the legislation of Moldova, respecting the state institutions and cooperating with them,” the press release says. PRO TV states that it will take all the steps needed to protect its image ad its legal rights. At Thursday’s meeting of the Parliament, the PPCD MP Stefan Secareanu leveled accusations at the television channel PRO TV, saying that it undermines Moldova’s interests by promoting scenarios devised by the country’s non-friends from abroad. He wanted to know who ran PRO TV Chisinau and demanded that the law enforcement bodies should investigate who the channel’s owners are and who dictates its editorial policy. At the same time, the MP of the Moldova Noastra Alliance Party, Gheorghe Susarenco repeatedly asked for information about the owners of EuTV and Antena C stations, which were privatized two years ago by the vote of the municipal councilors of PPCD and PCRM.
