Candidates for MP of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) consider that the national health insurance sector should be reformed. They promise to cheapen the medicines in drugstores and to organize teams of doctors that will provide free consultations in rural medical units, kindergartens and schools at least once in two months, Info-Prim Neo reports. The PPCD candidates say that in Moldova there is medicine for dignitaries and medicine for the rest of the population, and there is a great difference between them. “The dignitaries receive treatment at elite medical institutions intended exclusively for them, which are funded from the state budget. The quality of the medical services for civil servants is much higher, while the treatment for them and their families is free of charge,” said the candidate on behalf of the PPCD Igor Ciuru. The PPCD candidates stated that the medical institutions in Moldova’s villages and districts are in a deplorable condition. “The insurance system is imperfect because only certain types of medical services are free and only the cheaper drugs are released gratis under the insurance policy, while the more expensive ones should be bought,” said another PPCD candidate Sergiu Rabei. The young candidates also said that the medications go to drugstores through intermediaries, not directly from importers and therefore their price is by up to 60% larger. “As the law allows the economic entities working in the field to benefit from a profit margin of up to 25%, few of them use lower margins,” Rabei said.
