Moldovan actor Mihai Volontir will appear on a postage stamp in Moldova. The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology decided to issue the postage stamp and postcard in gratitude and in memory of the actor. These will be put into circulation by Moldova’s Post Office on October 21, IPN reports.
The postage stamp “Mihai Volontir, actor. In memoriam” shows the actor’s portrait with a sequence from the film “Dimitrie Cantemir” in the background. The stamp is complemented by an envelope “first day of issue” and an illustrated postcard. The stamp has a nominal value of 1.75 lei and will be issued in a number of 200,000 copies. There will also be printed 1,000 copies of the postcard that will cost 3 lei each.
Theater and film actor and singer Mihai Volontir died at the age of 81 on September 15, 2015. He was the People’s Artist and a Knight of the Order of the Republic, which is the highest state award. In 2000, he was named the best actor of the 20th century in Moldovan cinematography.
