Ex-ambassador of Moldova to Romania Iurie Renita anticipates three possible scenarios related to the appointment of the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak as the Russian President’s Special Representative for Trade and Economic Relations with Moldova. The diplomat presented them in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

According to Iurie Renita, in its characteristic style Russia could have appointed Dmitry Kozak based on its own decision. Also, the negotiations could have been held exclusively with Igor Dodon or both Igor Dodon and the representatives of the government and its leader Vladimir Plahotniuc agreed on this candidate and this is the third scenario. “Otherwise, it is the sovereign right of the Republic of Moldova to pronounce,” stated the ex-ambassador, noting it is Moldova’s right to accept or reject any candidate without providing too many explanations.

Programs director of the Institute for Public Policy Oazu Nantoi said it is wrong to believe that they want to resolve the Transnistrian dispute by Moldova’s federalization. “The goal is to transform Moldova into a docile geopolitical satellite of the Russian Federation on the pretext for settling the Transnistrian conflict, while the so-called federalization is only an instrument,” he stated. According to him, Dmitri Kozak was sent to Moldova to ensure the election outcome wanted by Russia and this wants the PDM, PSRM and the Shor Party to have a majority of seats on the future Parliament. “Based on this majority, on the pretext for settling the Transnistrian conflict, Moldova could be transformed into a territory that would be politically dependent on the Russian Federation.”
