Poll shows Dodon with big lead over Sandu

If presidential elections were held next Sunday, 30,9% would vote for Igor Dodon and 19.3% for Maia Sandu, according to an opinion poll conducted by the Moldovan Association of Sociologists.

Andrei Năstase comes up next with 6.8%, Renato Usatîi with 6.7%, and Violeta Ivanov with 5.5%. 17% of respondents could not make a choice, and 8% said they would not participate.

In a potential second-round clash, Igor Dodon would lead with 44.2% over Maia Sandu’s 37.3%, as 18.5% said they wouldn’t vote in the second round or could not give an answer.

If Andrei Năstase were to confront Igor Dodon in the second round, the former would get 30.2% and the latter 48.5%.

In the event of a Dodon-Usatîi runoff, Our Party’s leader would get 36.9% and the incumbent president 49.3%.

The poll was conducted during September 6-22 on a sample of 1189 respondents in 85 towns.
