Political party requests Prosecutor General’s dismissal

The Social Democrat Party (PSDM) requests the Parliament to carry out a parliamentary inspection on the legal character of the actions undertaken by the prosecution bodies and requested the dismissal of the Prosecutor General Valeriu Balan.
According to a press release of the party, PSDM informed the Parliament and the General Prosecution Office about the unconstitutional and illegal actions as regards the intimidation of PSDM leaders, especially the recent actions against the head of PSDM National Council Loretta Handrabura.
These actions took place according to the order of the General Prosecution Office which stipulates checkups concerning the law abidance by the public organisations, the activity of which is related to the organization of meetings and protest actions. PSDM asked explanations about the aforementioned order and the actions of the Prosecution Office.
The PSDM organized a protest meeting against the penal proceedings in the case of the PSDM leader, Eduard Musuc in the square of the National Opera on November 4. Lorreta Handrabura and the member of the party, Andrei Dmitriev were summoned by the Buiucani district Prosecution Office on November 22 in order to explain their participation in the protest meeting. They were inquired into the participants who broke into chants of “Freedom”, “Democracy”, “Down with the communists”, “Down with the regime.
