Twelve persons aged between 18 and 35 residing temporarily in the municipality of Chisinau were arrested on suspicion that they sold drugs online. The police started seven criminal cases and during searches seized drugs to the value of about 6 million lei, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, the group has been followed during three months and in the period the police identified a network to sell drugs through Telegram. Daily, the members of the group earned over 20,000 lei from the sale of drugs. The organizers and administrators of the network also recruited persons to work as “couriers” to place drugs in agreed places.
During searches at suspects’ homes, the police seized over 15 kg of different types of drugs and tools for measuring and packing these.
Drug distribution carries a maximum jail term of 15 years.
