About 700 kg of living fish conveyed in unsanitary conditions and without documents of origin were to be sold in Chisinau. The merchandise was found in a minibus during a routine check by police near Stauceni commune of Chisinau municipality, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Chisinau Police Division, the driver aged 33 from Stefan Voda district could not present documents of origin or quality for the goods. The fish was transported in plastic containers in insanitary conditions. According to preliminary inquiries, the merchandize was brought from the Transnistrian region.
The consignment was seized, while representatives of the Chisinau Food Safety Division issued a document banning using the fish in public alimentation. The driver was fined 6,000 lei.
