The police directed traffic at pedestrian crossings near schools and kindergartens during the first week of the start of the school year. According to the police, emphasis was placed on institutions situated near arteries and at intersections and that have crosswalks without traffic lights, IPN reports.

The police were helped by participants in the project “Caring Grandparents”. Their common mission was to prevent road accidents involving children and to early cultivate the responsibility for safely crossing the street. The school and kindergarten children received security recommendations from the police, while the parents accompanying them got information brochures about road safety.

In this connection, the police recommend the pedestrians to cross the street only at crosswalks and not to jaywalk as this is dangerous. The drivers are urged to be very cautious in traffic, especially near schools and kindergartens.
