The traffic police found three tonnes of frozen poultry in a vehicle not far from the municipality of Chisinau. The meat, without documents of origin, was transported to Balti municipality, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the General Police Inspectorate, the 200 boxes of 15 kg of frozen poultry each were in the freight section of the car driven by a man from Balti. The Inspectorate’s Frauds Service took the meat to a specialized storehouse and launched an investigation into this case.
The meat will be examined so as to see if it meets the legal norms. General Police Inspectorate spokesman Adrian Jovmir said it is the court that will decide what will happen to the confiscated goods.
The driver faces a fine of 2,000 to 3,000 lei.
