“Moldova Noastra” Alliance (MNA) condemns the police attacks occurred on March 27 against politicians and the reporting crews from PRO TV, DTV and TV-7, attacks which prove that the regime of Voronin deliberately tries to compromise Moldova in front of Europe and the entire democratic world, says a statement signed by MNA Leader Serafim Urecheanu, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the leader of MNA, the recent incident is a part of a series of actions undertaken by authorities, supported by the pro-communist coalition, and directed towards demonstratively defying the viewpoints expressed by the western diplomats and democratic forums. Whereas a number of western diplomats warn that Moldova might compromise international commitments by violating the freedom of media, the head of the OSCE Mission and the US ambassador in Moldova draw attention on the need to hold fair elections, and the co-chairman of the EU Committee for Parliamentary cooperation with Moldova urges authorities to treat relations with Romania like with the EU, on the other hand, Voronin’s regime displays an aggressive and subversive behaviour, the statement reads. According to the document, the reforms are faked and speculated in order to divide the key-offices and public resources among the members of the pro-communist coalition, the law and justice system are used to destroy the political opponents of the coalition, and the independent press is subject to a growing pressure. The access of citizens to the decision-making, civil and political life, especially to unbiased information is progressively limited, the last argument being the cancellation of the live transmission of Parliament sittings. “The abuses made in a single day against several politicians and reporting crews show that the communist government is in a state of dangerous hysteria. It brutally obstructs the free media, civil and political organisations in Moldova”, the statement says. At the same time, the leader of MNA says that “the regime of Voronin uses an authoritarian control over all the state institutions to compromise the relations of Moldova with the EU and its living and democracy standards. This regime is a national and regional threat, which entails that adequate measures be taken to protect the Moldovan society and European community from a new dictatorship.
