The National Liberal Party (PNL) sent an open letter to the Moldovan administration, demanding declaring the Russian Ambassador in Chisinau Valery Kuzmin persona non grata. The party’s head Vitalia Pavlichenko told a news conference that Valery Kuzmin spoke publicly about the ‘Romanian occupation’ in an event, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“It is not for the firs time that the Russian ambassador tries to behave like a master on our Romanian land, unfairly interfering in the country’s internal affairs. In the speech delivered at a conference, he invoked an alleged information and propaganda campaign aimed at systemically falsifying the history of World War II, Moldova’s presence in the USSR and the Moldovan-Russian relations over centuries,” said Vitalia Pavlichenko.
She also said that the ambassador reserves the right to give grades to those who tell the truth about the painful history of Romanians. “Surely, the ambassador does not like the position of the Romanians in Bessarabia, who demand annulling the consequences of the criminal Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, considering it as attempt to review the history,” said the leader of the PNL.
The PNL defends the interests of Romania as a prime Romanian state and of Moldova as the second Romanian state, regardless of Russia’s and the ambassador’s will. “It’s not the business of an ambassador of the country that keeps us under permanent occupation to tell us what nation we have. When Russia officially supports separatism and sets up polling places in Transnistria against the Moldovan authorities’ will, can we say that this is recognition of our state’s independence?,” asked the head of the PNL.
“The PNL condemns the fact that the Russian ambassador to Moldova denies the genocide committed here by the Soviets in 1940-1941, 1944-1951, groundlessly comparing the victims with those who collaborated with the Nazis in the West,” said Vitalia Pavlichenko. According to the PNL, Valery Kuzmin insults the memory of those who were deported and exterminated by the Soviet authorities by organized famine, keeping in hollows with quicklime and other NKVD-like methods.
PNL deputy head Anatol Revenko said the Russian ambassador pursues a destructive policy agsissnt the native people. “We are Romanians and punctum. The ambassador tells us to forget the history of the people who were deported and humiliated. If he does not apologize, he should be declared persona non grata and expelled,” he said.
The PNL calls upon the Government, Parliament, the political leaders of Moldova, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration to stand on their dignity. According to the National-Liberals, the Russian ambassador should have been expelled long ago.
