Prime Minister Iurie Leanca would like the people to have more occasions where to hear the arguments of those who are against Moldova’s integration into the EU and of the government, which always maintained that the Moldovans deserve a better future, alongside the European citizens. He made such a statement when he spoke before the MPs, thanking the Communists for the censure motion that enabled him to come to Parliament and to speak about the benefits of the association with the EU, IPN reports.

“As to the definite benefits, I would mention a very important one for our people – the liberalization of the visa regime. I welcomed with maximum satisfaction the European Commission’s decision to recommend the European Parliament and the European Council to abolish the visa requirements for Moldovans in the Schengen area in the near future. This is the result on an assiduous work done by the state institutions,” stated the Premier.

In several years, Moldova will file an application to join the EU. “I’m convinced that a day will come when we will celebrate Moldova’s membership in the European Union. Moldova will become a modern country open for everyone, with predictable rules of the game, which are partially set by the most influential community of sovereign states – the European Union,” said Iurie Leanca.

The Communists accused the Leanca Government of holding in secret the negotiations on the Association Agreement with the EU, which was initialed on November 29. They said the provisions of this accord can lead to the country’s colonization and to conflicts inside the country.
