PM Gavrilița to attend state funeral for ex-Premier Shinzo Abe in Tokyo

Prime Minster Natalia Gavrilița will travel to Tokyo where she will take part in the state funeral for former Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe. The details were discussed in a meeting with Japan’s Ambassador in Chisinau Yoshihiro Katayama and deputy director of Japan International Cooperation Agency’s Office in Ukraine Kumiko Kasai, IPN reports.

Ex-Premier premier Shinzo Abe died in the hospital on July 7 after he was shot during a political campaign event in Nara city. The attacker was arrested. This used an artisanal gun. The state funeral set for September 27 will take place following a private funeral held after the death of Shinzo Abe, who was 67.

According to the Government’s press service, there were also discussed other fundamental aspects of the bilateral relations, such as the development of the security situation in the region and the promotion and facilitation of Moldovan agrifood products’ access to the Japanese market. The officials considered the organization of a Moldovan-Japanese business forum in the near future.

Premier Gavrilița expressed her gratitude for the constant support provided by Japan to Moldova, especially for the contribution made by the authorities and the people of Japan in the process of managing the refugee crisis and for the humanitarian assistance offered within the Moldova Support Platform.

Yoshihiro Katayama underlined the importance of updating the Moldovan-Japanese strategic partnership, especially in the context of the developments in Ukraine, noting that Japan is interested in identifying new possibilities for intensifying and extending cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
