Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici acted correctly when he demanded dismissing the prosecutor general, the National Bank governor and the director of the National Commission for Financial Markets. Such an opinion was shared by invitees to the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.

Director of the Center for Strategic Research and Political Constancy “Politicon” Anatol Taranu said it’s good that the Premier uttered things known by everyone, but he will be dismissed for this. He expressed his fear that the power may be seized by anti-European forces. “The situation can lead to the coming to power of forces that will thwart Moldova’s European course. Dodon said that if he comes to power, he will demand abrogating the Association Agreement with the EU. On the other hand, the country is close to a catastrophe and to a default. The Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” is not a political force that could take over the power,” he stated.

Lawyer Stanislav Pavlovschi, former ECHR judge, said Gaburici acted correctly in the current situation. “A number of managers of state institutions must be replaced and the Premier sought their dismissal. The government does not have a choice and should comply with the demands of society. Under the pressure of society, the senior administration could make particular changes and could unblock the reforms,” he stated.

Political analyst Alexei Tulbure considers Prime Minister Gaburici followed the suggestions of the foreign partners. “The letter-ultimatum of Gaburici should be welcomed. I think somebody suggested to Gaburici that he will enjoy the Europeans’ support if he does something. If Gaburici keeps his post, this will mean that he is supported by the Europeans.  They speculate too much on the European course in our country. There is no such a course in in Moldova. There are only statements and the foreign partners realize this,” he said.

Lawyer Pavel Midrigan considers Gaburici’s gesture is related to his upcoming dismissal. “Chiril Gaburici realizes that he will be dismissed and decided to issue an ultimatum to demand firing high-ranking officials so as to leave with honor. I think somebody advised the Premier to do this,” he stated.
