Prime Minister Pavel Filip in the evening of March 24 convoked a meeting of the cell crisis in connection with the heavy snowfall. The meeting assessed the situation on the national roads, access to communities and public institutions, functionality of border crossing points and supply of communities with power, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

According to the presented information, all the roads in the country were passable. The situation was more difficult in the central and southern districts. About 220 units of equipment and over 300 workers were involved in snow clearing works.

The police, rescuers and carabineers will patrol the roads where traffic encounters difficulties so as to provide assistance. In this connection, the Premier requested that the special trucks should be ready to intervene to unblock and tow away vehicles.

Pavel Filip noted that maximum mobilization is needed on the part of all the public authorities and specialized teams. “The people should be informed so that everyone knows which roads are blocked and which are passable and the future forecasts. The emergency services should be continuously accessible,” he stated.

According to the Ministry of Defense, National Army soldiers by midnight unblocked 33 large trucks and 35 persons who got stuck on the Balti-Tiganca, Condrita-Leuseni and Chisinau-Cricova roads and the national road M14.

Those who experience difficulties caused by the unfavorable weather can call the emergency services 901, 902 and 903.
