At the end of January, the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) will launch a nationwide campaign to inform the people about the provisions of the National Responsibility Pact and the benefits of the association with the European Union, the party’s leader Vlad Filat said in the program “Fourth power” on N4 TV channel, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat said that members of the PLDM will go to all the country’s settlements to explain the European integration process to the people.

Asked about the progress made in resolving the Transnistrian conflict, Vlad Filat said progress exists until the negotiations continue. “Provocations existed and will exist. I don’t think that certain decisions of Tiraspol are taken in Tiraspol. There is also a geopolitical struggle and the emotions surely do no good. We should not allow this dialogue to slow down or to endanger the European integration process. This process is too important for adopting speculative and simplistic approaches,” said Vlad Filat.

He underlined that the settlement process must result in an agreement. The solution to the conflict must be sustainable, not only electoral. It is 11 months until the parliamentary elections and a geopolitical struggle will take place in the future election campaign. The Communist Party, which became a retrograde party, will not enter the new legislative body. Vlad Filat avoided saying whether he wants to hold again the post of Prime Minister, but specified that even if he does not have a formal post, he can contribute to the decision-making process and to solving important problems.

Referring to the Russian gas, the former Premier said that Moldova pays a higher price for it than Germany, while the contract for the supply of gas, signed by Moldova and Russia’s Gazprom during the Communist administration, was an unfavorable one for the national economy and the Moldovan people. Vlad Filat underlined that in the future the government will insist that the foreigners and those who do not know Romanian should learn it.
