The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) on Tuesday, December 25, filed with the Ministry of Justice the application package to register the party.
PLDM leader Vladimir Filat said all the required documents that must be included in the application package are in place, together with the signatures of about 12,300 prospective members, which makes him confident that the Ministry of Justice will not have valid grounds to refuse the registration of the party.
The initiative to form the Liberal Democratic Party belongs to MP Vladimir Filat, a former member of the Democratic Party. The founding congress took place on December 8, 2007.
PLDM’s efforts will be directed to ensuring the independence of the judiciary and re-establish trust in the judicial system; diversifying the economic relations of Moldova in order to reduce its current economic and energy dependence; promoting a good neighbourhood policy by establishing a strategic partnership with Romania and Ukraine in order to pursue Moldova’s national interests; establishing a pragmatic economic and political relationship with the Russian Federation; etc.
PLDM also pleads for a special law that will bar access to public offices for the persons that during the ruling of the current Communist government, since 2001 until present days, have either issued or executed illegal orders that made innocent citizens suffer. The party intends to cooperate with all the forces of democratic orientation, except for those advocating Nazism, Communism, xenophobia, jingoism and Antisemitism.
