The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova (PLDM) will soon launch a people’s information movement in support of the European integration idea. The movement is to bring together all the pro-European political forces, personalities and ordinary people of Moldova. The announcement was made by the leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat in a news conference, IPN reports.

The Liberal-Democratic leader said the European integration in 2014 will be a priority that must prevail over party interests and become a national idea that will unite people, regardless of their political views. “Only raising the European integration idea over parties and taking it out of the context of political struggles cam help us achieve all the objectives set before us as a state that aspires to become part of the large family of European democracies,” said Vlad Filat.

He added that the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is also a priority that will definitively anchor Moldova in the area of European values and will make the European integration process irreversible. He underlined that 2014 is crucial for Moldova’s future, while the political parties and civil society must not only resist, but also act in a concerted way so that all the projects aimed at modernizing Moldova as a European state are implemented.

According to Vlad Filat, 2014 won’t be an easy one, while the Moldovan people and the government will have to cope with a number of challenges and difficulties. “Moldova will follow the path of reforms and of Europe. In 2014, the people and political parties need unity. The only idea that unites us is the European integration. We will launch the movement in support of the European integration idea so as to unite all the forces that want a European future. 2014 won’t be an easy year. It requires maximum responsibility and political maturity,” he stated.

Vlad Filat presented also other priorities of the party for this year. Among them is the acceleration of the reformation of the justice sector and the fight against corruption, the approval of the Education Code, the extension of health centers, etc.
