The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) is inviting the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) and the Dignity and Truth Platform (PDA) to hold negotiations with a view to creating an electoral bloc and selecting a common candidate for the November presidential election.

PLDM calls the two other parties to unity, saying they need to acknowledge the importance of the presidential election in light of “the threat of a deviation of the foreign policy vector and abandonment of the European integration course.”

“Though time is short, through political will, it is still possible to designate a joint candidate for the presidential election by creating this electoral bloc, where all the three parties can manifest their identity and interests of their own voters, and above all, unlock their potential in promoting the national interest of Moldova,” the Lib-Dems said in a statement.

PLDM also said it’s open to any format of negotiations which PAS and PDA consider the most functional.

Recently, the former prime minister Vlad Filat was re-elected PLDM president after serving five years in jail on grand corruption charges. He had pleaded not guilty, claiming he had been framed.
