The Liberal Democratic Party (PDM) can put forward another candidate for Prime Minister, otherwise there will be early elections, political analyst Anatol Taranu stated for IPN when asked to pronounce on the unconstitutionality of the President’s decree to designate Vlad Filat as Premier.
“I’m among those who believe that by its decision, the Constitutional Court exceeded its authority and gave a political rather than juridical verdict. It interfered directly in the political decision making, which is inadmissible for the Constitutional Court,” said the analyst.
According to Taranu, the Constitutional Court can annul the President’s decrees only if they envision anticonstitutional acts. The examination of the constitutionality must be based strictly on the law, not on subjective interpretations.
The analyst said that the decision of the Constitutional Court contributed to deepening the existent political crisis.
