The ice hockey team Platina Chisinau will take part in the international tournament “Eurasian Cup” that will be held in the Russian town of Orenburg on April 2-7. The competition will bring together six youth squads from Russia and Moldova, IPN reports.
”Our goal is to popularize ice hockey in Moldova and make it popular among the young people. We are glad that our tricolor flag is seen in an increasing number of skating rinks in the world,” the manager of HC Platina Chisinau Sergiu Ceban said in a news conference.
Owing to the financial support provided by Russian sponsors, Platina was able to buy a new bus. “We will now save money and invest it in equipment,” stated Sergiu Ceban.
The ice hockey club Platina is the most popular among the similar clubs in Moldova. In 2011, the team became champion of the National U-18 Juniors League of Romania. One year later, Platina took part in Romania’s seniors championship, but was excluded for violating the regulations. Also in 2012, Platina competed in the Youth League of Russia.
