One year after the protest called the Great National Assembly, which was mounted by the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” on September 6, 2016, members of the Platform presented ten accomplishments of the protest movement, IPN reports.

In a news conference, the member of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” Dinu Plangau said the international public opinion found out about the serious corruption-related problems in Moldova and this is an achievement. Also, owing to the pressure exerted by the protesters, Vlad Plahotniuc’s candidacy for the post of Prime Minister was rejected by President Nicolae Timofti. The protest movement offered the people a new political alternative and the people regained the right of choosing the Head of State themselves.

Dinu Plangau also said that owing to the people’s pressure, the schemes to steal electric power from consumers and other illegalities committed in the service sector were elucidated. “All these results that we achieved during a year are due to the people who woke up and to their sincere struggle aimed at shaking the thrown of the self-proclaimed politicians,” he stated.

The leader of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase said the protest movement wanted a dialogue with the government, but the idea of this dialogue was profaned. “We wanted all our demands to be transformed into legislative initiatives and then laws that would be implemented by a technocratic Government without considerable political affiliation,” he stated.

Valentin Dolganiuc, a member of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, said September 6, 2015 is the day of dignity and truth and the start of the end of an oligarchic regime. He called on the people to prepare for protests because this democratic weapon against oligarchy will have to be used soon.
