Plastic artist Simion Odainic, author of sated awards, died

Plastic artist Simion Odainic, the author of state awards of the Republic of Moldova instituted in 1992 and of other valuable phaleristics and heraldic symbols registered in the General Armorial, has died. President Maia Sandu transmitted a message of condolence to the family, IPN reports.

Born in Alexeevca village of Lăpușna district (currently Ungheni district) on September 1, 1938, Simion Odainic became a member of the Union of Plastic Artists in 1980. He was one of the founding members of the National Heraldic Commission under the President of the Republic of Moldova (1995), a member of the International Art Medal Federation (FIDEM) based in Paris (1998) and of the International Association of Plastic Artists (2004).

“His creative work was fully reflected in representative group and personal exhibitions in the country and abroad, in Romania, Fanta, Portugal, Turkey, Poland, Ukraine, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Moldova. Known far outside the country, Simion Odainic was a plastic artist of high professional standing who had permanently improved his performance,” says the obituary.

For his impressive accomplishments, the reputable artist Simion Odainic received diplomats and prestigious prizes and also high state awards, such as the Honorific Title “Master of Arts” (1996), the Medal “Mihai Eminescu” (2000), “Order of Honor” (2004), and “Order of the Republic” (2019).
