The Liberal Party’s candidate for mayor general of Chisinau municipality Valeriu Munteanu said the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo prepares his exclusion from the electoral race next week. According to him, this happens because it is clear that he will reach the runoffs, IPN reports.

In a news conference on May 12, Valeriu Munteanu said the party’s internal assessments show he will undoubtedly reach the runoffs together with the representative of the Plahotniuc-Dodon, who will suffer a much more humiliating defeat than the stable representatives of the left – the Party of Socials and the Party of Communists. Understanding this, the duo is making the last preparations for misleading the people and distorting the reality.

“In this regard, Plahotniuc personally and the duo of which he forms part commission polls that show that Silvia Radu has the highest score, banking on the idea that the people will be afraid and will follow the direction indicated by Plahotniuc as a herd,” stated Munteanu. According to him, this is disrespect for the whole city and for the inhabitants of Chisinau. But, according to him, Chisinau city has inhabitants who know to make a conscious choice and such maneuvers are not credible. However, these polls could be used as a precondition for falsifying the elections.

Valeriu Munteanu said the Party of Socialists went to court and demanded that his electoral posters be removed for the reason that a banned symbol is used, according to them – the tricolor. But his name was actually written by using several chromatic elements similar to the national tricolor, which is not a violation of the law. This initiative came after he challenged in court the involvement in the campaign of Socialist candidate Ion Ceban of foreign officials, namely Vladimir Putin and Alexandr Lukashenko, and also of President Igor Dodon.

The Liberal candidate said he will not remove the posters. Moreover, he will defend in court his right to take part in the current electoral race. He called on the inhabitants of Chisinau to vote for him on May 20.
