The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) must propose another candidate for the post of Prime Minister and maintain the European integration program, the chairman of the Liberal Party (PL) Mihai Ghimpu has stated. According to him, if the PLDM insists on the candidacy of Vlad Filat, they should assume responsibility for causing early legislative elections, IPN reports.

In the March 31 meeting of the party’s National Council, there was presented an analysis of the internal and international context and of the foreign implications associated with the crisis experienced by Moldova. Mihai Ghimpu said the AEI-2 was destroyed by Vlad Filat, who groundlessly withdrew from the alliance constitution agreement on February 13.

”In 2009, we allowed everyone to choose high-ranking posts so that the alliance could be formed. The situation repeated in 2010, when the PL yielded up the post of Speaker so that the alliance continued to work and, together with Vlad Filat as Premier, we could cover the road to European integration till the end. But Vlad Filat appreciated neither the European integration objective nor our policy,” said Ghimpu.

PL deputy chairman Dorin Chirtoaca said there are two large systems in the world, which struggle between them – the system of European democracies based on democratic rules and standards, and the eastern system based only on the pyramid of power. Moldova is on the line going between the two systems. Being pro-European, the Liberal Party pleads for ensuring the state’s democratic development and for creating all the conditions needed for the people’s prosperity,” he stated.

The head of the Women’s Organization and deputy chairwoman of the PL Corina Fusu said that a number of things emerged during the negotiations on the formation of the AEI-3 and there are no guarantees that Vlad Filat will not move to the opposition without the alliance colleagues’ consent.

However, the Liberals pleaded for the creation of AEI-3, together with the PDM and PLDM. But the PLDM must put forward another candidate for premiership.
