The quality of the works to asphalt Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt Blvd in Chisinau is poor. Mayor General of Chisinau Ion Ceban reached such a conclusion after examining an expert report for November 2019 – March 2020. He said he will go to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) with this report, IPN reports.
According to Ion Ceban, the company chosen to lay asphalt started the works with delay. The examination shows the works were of a poor quality. Problems were identified on Ștefan cel Mare Blvd and on Constantin Negruzzi St, including transverse and longitudinal cracks and bumps.
The mayor believes the €7 million allocated for this project was lost. The contractor intentionally performed works of a poor quality and the company that supervised the works, which is not based in Moldova, but has local employees, and the then administration of the Public Transport and Communications Division are responsible for such a state of affairs.
Ion Ceban said the reaction period expired and the money cannot be recovered. In particular conditions, they can count only on the guarantees of 5% (€275,000). This money can be used to repair the fluvial drainage system.
