The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) said that for now it does not have other news about the president of the Party “Building Europe at Home” (PACE) Gheorghe Cavcaliuc four days after he announced that “he was on the way home” after vacationing with the family, IPN reports.

“Representatives of PACE could not say if the party’s leader entered the Republic of Moldova or where he is now. They yet transmitted to us a statement signed by Gheorghe Cavcaliuc. He said that he does not avoid the prosecution body and will come to the Prosecutor’s Office when his lawyer returns from the planned annual leave and when the PGO accepts the request to replace the prosecutor in charge of the case as, according to Gheorghe Cavcaliuc, this is in a conflict of interests with him and handles this political case started by order,” said the PGO.

Raisa Novitsky, spokeswoman for the Border Police, told IPN that the information about the crossing of the border by persons is confidential and she cannot say if Gheorghe Cavcaliuc entered the country or not.

The leader of PACE Gheorghe Cavcaliuc didn’t show up at the Sângerei Prosecutor’s Office on July 16. Consequently, the prosecutor ordered his arrest for familiarizing him with the indictment.  In four days, he was put on the wanted list because he refused to appear before the investigation body. Also, four PACE members accused of hooliganism committed by two or more persons were indicted and will stand trial in the ‘brilliant green’ case. The decisions were taken by the Sângerei Prosecutor’s Office. Later the same day, Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said that he didn’t avoid appearing before the investigation bodies and is now on the way home together with his family as he was on leave.
