PG finishes examination of second case against Gumenita

The Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) has announced that it completed the examination of the second case opened against former police commissioner of Chisinau Iacob Gumenita over misuse of power on the night of April 8, 2009, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the prosecutors, that night police officers used force against a number of protesters at the intersection of Stefan cel Mare Blvd. and Pushkin St. A part of the young people were taken to police stations by cars, while others were maltreated in the Great National Assembly Square. The PG earlier presented videos of those events. As a result, a number of the ill-treated persons contacted the prosecutors and gave testimony. The legal case will be sent to the Buiucani district court for examination. In another case, Iacob Gumenita is accused of misconduct in office during the April 2009 events.
