Moldovan judoka Petru Pelivan medalled silver at the European Youth Olympic Festival that is taking place in Hungary’s Gyor, IPN reports.
Before reaching the final of the 66kg class, the 19-year-old athlete scored three victories, beating Edoardo Mella of Italy, Yahor Trukhan of Belarus and Mark Hristov of Bulgaria. In the final, Pelivan lost to Georgia’s Giorgi Chikhelidze. One day earlier, Moldovan judoka Adil Osmanov finished fifth.
Among other Moldovan judokas who will compete in Gyor are Dan Buzica, Eugen Matveichuk, Grigore Taban and Ilie Dorofeev. Matveichuk carried Moldova’s flag at the opening ceremony.
