Persons with light forms of COVID-19 to be treated at home as of April 10

The persons who will suffer from a light form of COVID-19 will no longer be hospitalized. The persons with chronic diseases, children and pregnant women will make an exception, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting of the National Focal Point.

The minister stated that the triage center COVID-19 Chisinau Center and the administration of treatment all over Moldova will help reduce the pressure exerted on the health system.

Tatiana Zatyk, division head for primary medical assistance, said the family doctors are involved in the fight against the novel coronavirus by identifying and supervising the persons suspected of having COVID-19. “All the family doctors in the country were trained how to administer treatment at home and, starting with tomorrow, the patients with light forms who do not have co-morbidity, do not have such chronic diseases as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases, diseases of the respiratory system, oncological diseases, will be treated at home,” stated Tatiana Zatyk.

The family doctors are provided with the instruments needed to supervise the patients by phone. On the appearance of the clinical signs, each patient will be instructed what treatment to follow.

The persons who are self-isolating will continue to be supervised in cooperation with the police and the local public authorities.
