The permit for hunting in the Moldovan-Romanian border area is mandatory, including for persons who live in the border area on a permanent basis. The document is issued by the Border Police, stated Tatiana Cîrlig, officer of the Regime and Public Order Division of the Border Police.

The permit for hunting in the border area does not replace the permit allowing access to the border area. When applying for the hunting permit, the person must present an application, the list of participants in hunting, the original and a copy of the ID of each of the participants, the hunter’s permit and the firearm permit, a copy of the registration certificate of the unit of transport that will be used in hunting and the passport of the hunting dog, stated the officer of the Border Police.

If a group hunting session is planned, the applications and sets of documents for the participants can be submitted by a representative of the group. The application is examined within five workdays.

The person who obtained the permit will be able to hunt only after receiving training from the administration of Border Police Unit. The permit is valid only on the presentation of the person’s ID.

The hunting season in Moldova takes place between September 21 and January 15, 2023. Hunting will be possible in open areas outside wooded areas within the quotas approved for the 2022-2023 hunting season, in accordance with the decision taken by the Commission for Exceptional Situations on September 15. Shooting and staying with a loaded gun within 10 km from the state border with Ukraine, within 2 km from the peripheries of the municipalities of Chisinau and Bălți and within 1 km from the outskirts of any other localities are banned.
