Two brothers, 38 and 43, were detained for complicity in organizing “mass disturbances” outside the building of the Central Electoral Commission in conspiracy with an entity affiliated with the convicted fugitive Ilan Shor, the Moldovan police.

The investigated actions took place in early September, when the building was vandalized both during the protest rally and later that night, with paint cans hurled at the entrance among other mischief.

The two suspects, in complicity with the organizer, who has been declared wanted by the police, recruited 17 young men from Criuleni town and gave them instructions. Some of the interviewed men who were bussed in by the two suspects are cooperating with the investigation. They say they were promised 50 dollars each for attending the rally, and a 1,000 lei bonus for the first to throw the prepared items. Eventually, they said they were only paid 500-600 lei.

The violations are being investigated by PCCOCS prosecutors jointly with INI officers. The organizer is thought two have received the money through the mobile app of a sanctioned Russian bank.
