IPN Agency reacted to the concerns expressed by Moldovan society, which fears that the day of May 9 may be used by different circles of interest as a pretext for particular kinds of provocations and for causing destabilization in Moldova. The concerns seem sufficiently justified in the context of the profound regional crisis that affects Moldova too. The given mini-series will present the opinions of representatives of central and local public authorities, of political parties and analysts and the measures by which the possible provocations can be prevented or annihilated.

There are no preconditions to speak about possible provocations or tense relations in southern Moldova on May 9, considers Mayor of Comrat town Nicolai Dudoglo. Asked by IPN, the mayor said the residents of Comrat mark the Day of Victory against Fascism on May 9. Traditionally, on this occasion, flowers are laid at the busts of those killed in battle in World War II.

A concert will be held in the town’s central square in the evening of the same day. It will involve artistic groups from the region. “I don’t think that provocations are possible in Gagauzia. The people in the region want to mark this holiday peacefully. The inhabitants of Comrat district must be calm. No tense situations re expected. We are preparing for the holiday. The responsibility of the police is to maintain public order, as they usually do during such events,” stated Nicolai Dudoglo.
