The pensions on April 1 will be indexed by 6%. This coefficient will be applied to the part of the pension that does not exceed the average monthly salary in the economy forecasted for 2024 (13,700 lei). An amendment to this effect was approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
According to data of the National House of Social Insurance, out of 650,581 recipients of pensions paid from the state social insurance budget, 9,802 have pensions higher than the ceiling of 13,700 lei.
The costs associated with the indexation of pensions were estimated at 1 429 562 200 lei, of which 1 091 432 400 lei will be paid from the state social insurance budget, while 338 129 800 lei from the state budget.
