The president of honor of the Democratic Party (PDM) Dumitru Diacov told a news conference on Friday that the PDM will sue the Communists Party (PCRM) because its representatives hinder the local public authorities in their activity, Info-Prim Neo reports.
At the same new conference, the head of Hancesti district Nicolae Chetraru said that 18 councilors of the faction of the Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD) and of the PCRM caused a conflict in the Hancesti District Council. As a result, the public administration cannot fulfill its duties.
“A number of councilors of Hancesti district on July 22 attempted to usurp the district executive power. Consequently, the Hancesti District Council at an extraordinary meeting adopted a number of decisions to remove the democratic administration of the district. The extraordinary meeting was illegal, while the councilors did not have the right to suspend two deputy district heads and two division heads from posts.
“These actions are aimed at intimidating and exerting pressure on the electoral contenders, at destabilizing the sociopolitical situation in the district and misbalancing the voters that share the democratic values,” Chetraru said.
The mayor of Mereseni village of Hancesti district Petru Roscolet said that officials of different institutions come to villages to campaign in favor of the Communists. “A bus with representatives of the Construction Ministry came recently to Mereseni. They went from house to house and distributed electoral information, asking the people who they will vote for,” Roscolet said.
According to the mayor of Mereseni, representatives of the Tax Inspectorate in Hancesti were campaigning for the Communists while pretending to be levying taxes. Petru Roscolet said that the civil servants campaign at the ruling party’s order. If they do not comply, they can lose their jobs.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the chairman of the PCRM faction in the Hancesti District Council Vasile Gagiu denied the accusations. “The head of Hancesti district was suspended from post for the period of the electoral campaign as he employed administrative resources for the parliamentary elections, using the motor pool, offices, fuel and telephones.
Vasile Gagiu also said that the representatives of the PDM in the Hancesti District Council want only to make money. “The district of Hancesti was prosperous two years ago. After Chetraru became the district’s head, no progress has been made. They entered the administration to make money and prattle. The European Union transferred about 260,000 euros for a project in the field of tourism. But the money was used to serve coffee and travel in Romania,” Gagiu said.
