The Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) says all the servicer members will be provided with service apartments. The party will plead for the inclusion of the Republic of Moldova into different NATO initiatives and programs and will assign service members to attend training courses in the partner countries. The PDM’s electoral offer in the defense sector, which was included in the Country Program “Moldova Different”, was presented by the party’s vice president Alexandru Pînzari on June 4, IPN reports.

In a press briefing,
Alexandru Pînzari said the PDM aims to modernize the army depending on the regional and international risks and to develop patriotic education and defense culture. Also, the PDM intends to propose legislative initiatives to equal one day on peacekeeping missions with two workdays in the length of service for Moldovan service members.

The vice president of the PDM noted that during the short period of time while he served as minister of defense, which coincided with the pandemic period, the National Army was near the police officers and the carabineers patrolling the streets. The doctors were transported home or to the workplace when public transport was unavailable. Soldiers took part in the setting up of the COVID-19 Triage Center at Moldexpo. They patrolled on foot in Bălţi, Chisinau, Cahul. In that period, bomb disposal technicians neutralized over 2,000 explosive devices all over the country. Service members donated plasma and blood for persons diagnosed with COVID-19, while the military hospital accepted thousands of patients with symptoms. The veterans and war widows were helped by setting up a telephone line for them to inform about their problems.
