The Democrat Party (PDM) issued a statement saying that the manipulations of Sergiu Mocanu, the leader of the People’s Movement “Antimafie”, and the victim playing do not deserve a political answer and should be analyzed and penalized by legal ways. “The PDM documented the repeated violations by this group and the attempts to provoke altercations and clashes with citizens at the electoral events staged by the PDM, successively, in a number of settlements. The party draws attention to the message inciting hatred and violence launched by this pseudo-party,” reads the PDM’s statement, quoted by IPN.

According to the Democrats, these actions are illegal, typical of the political vagabond Sergiu Mocanu, which should be assessed by the electoral bodies, the law enforcement bodies and the judiciary.

The party notified the Central Election Commission after on two separate occasions, candidate Sergiu Mocanu and a number of his colleagues, who were visibly under the influence of alcohol, tried to incite people who took part in electoral events alongside the PDM to violence: in Cantemir on October 18 and in Nisporeni on October 19.

The PDM requests penalizing the Movement “Antimafie” for violating the Electoral Code and the legislation on meetings. The PDM will file a lawsuit so that the persons forming part of Mocanu’s ‘group of hooligans’ are punished. The party wants to ensure the correctness of the election campaign and to transmit a clear message: the people deserve to be treated with respect by the election runners, while the actions aimed at destabilizing the situation, at inciting violence and causing provocations in society must be stooped.
