The Democratic Party (PDM) holds the golden votes for forming the new parliamentary majority, considers the director of the Resource Center for Human Rights (CReDO) Sergiu Ostaf.

Contacted by IPN, he said given that the Liberal group led by Mihai Ghimpu is not accepted at the negotiating table, a parliamentary majority will be formed from 31 seats of the Liberal Democratic Party plus seven membesr of the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party. It’s not excluded that the members of the Misin group will take part in the negotiations under certain conditions. This is three more persons. 7-8 votes are needed from the unaffiliated lawmakers. “Sergiu Sarbu said he may support the Leanca Government on condition. But there are not enough votes. Thus, the golden votes are held by the PDM and discussions will have to be conducted with them,” said Sergiu Ostaf.

As regards the expectations of the PDM, the CReDO director said that the party often underlined that it wants not only the people on the Cabinet to be changed, but also the quality of governance. They talked a lot about public money monitoring and the responsibility by political areas. “The PDM will have to present the full list of demands,” he stated.

According to him, the key role in the process of forming a new government is played by the PDM. If early elections are caused, Moldova risks facing a greater dilemma. “From political perspective, I think we should better keep the current government for two more years rather than radically change the situation. The current government is obliged to implement the announced program till the end,” said Sergiu Ostaf.

He also said that the current rulers have not much time left to fulfill the promises made to the people as their general image is of scandalous persons who pursue personal interests and who didn’t do much for the citizens during three years and a half.
