The Democratic Party decided to initiate discussions with the Party of Socialists so as to return to power. As a result of discussions, a final decision will be adopted, but an agreement is to be drafted and approved or at least confirmed by both of the sides, the Democratic leader Pavel Filip stated after the meeting of the PDM’s National Political Council in the evening of March 4, IPN reports.

“If we reach the conclusion that the PDM can enter the government, given that it could ensure state security, the identity formulas and the European path, and could prevent the federalization of the Republic of Moldova, the final decision will be again taken by the National Political Council,” Pavel Filip told the press.

According to him, the Democrats will be very attentive as the doctrinaire views of the PDM and PSRM do not correspond and there are serious divergences. A balance needs to be identified. Pavel Filip also said that if the Socialists managed to sign an agreement with those from the ACUM Bloc, they could reach an agreement with the Democrats too.

The discussions will be held by a group of Democratic MPs designated by the PDM’s National Political Council, namely the party’s president of honor Dumitru Diacov, vice presidents Igor Vremea, Eugeniu Nikiforchuk and Ruxanda Glavan, and secretary general Alexandru Jizdan.
