The Democratic parliamentary group said that snap parliamentary elections should be held, but considers that until then, the management of the pandemic and economic crisis should be the top priority of the politicians, IPN reports. After the group’s consultations with President Maia Sandu, the Democratic leader Pavel Filip told the journalists that snap parliamentary elections are needed given the multiple party switching to which some of the MPs resorted.

“The main question is what will happen to the Republic of Moldova in the period? Who manages the pandemic crisis? Who manages the economic crisis? Who prepares the country for free and fair elections? The answers to these questions are key and when we have these we will discuss the snap parliamentary elections,” stated Pavel Filip, noting that they didn’t discuss temporary or transition governments, but wanted to see what team will manage the crises until the snap elections.

Pavel Filip called on all the politicians and parties to think primarily about the people and the country and about what is going on in Moldova. The PDM suggests immediately working out an anti-crisis plan with three points: 1. Management of the pandemic crisis; 2. Management of the economic crisis; 3. Preparation of the country for snap parliamentary elections and identification of the team that will implement this anti-crisis plan.

President Maia Sandu on December 28 is having consultations with the parliamentary groups following the resignation of the Chicu Government.
